Reality is guests mostly use the front door with everyday access being more utilitarian via the garage or back door — the access point usually closest to the kitchen! What does your front door say about your home? Are you creating a celebrated entry, elaborate and oversized or understated and simple. Are your materials decorative, reflective, textural or natural and tonal, more subtle? Lighting is another layer that you can use to set the tone of an evening. In fact lighting your home’s front façade should be taken into account when lighting your front door.
